Labor of Love

Over 120 volunteers braved the rainy weather on April 12 to take part in this year’s Labor of Love at Pāhoa High and Intermediate. Labor unions, students, and community partners worked side by side to upgrade the campus with new tables, benches, water fountains, and fresh paint. The volunteers accomplished a lot, but the day was about more than just the work. Students had the chance to work alongside union members and speak with labor leaders about job prospects, career paths, and what it takes to get started in the work. It gave them a real look at careers they can pursue here in Hawai‘i. The work was meaningful, but what students walked away with mattered even more.
