Hawaii State AFL-CIO Awards Scholarships to 5 Dedicated Students

The Hawaii State AFL-CIO is excited to announce the recipients of five $1,000 scholarships for 2024, following a record-breaking 30 essay submissions on “The Importance of Labor Unions in Hawaii.” This increase in participation highlights a strong interest in labor issues among Hawaii’s youth. Below are the names of the proud scholarship recipients and the schools they plan to attend:

  • Mckenzie Jo – University of Hawai’i at Hilo
  • Alexis Molina – University of Hawai’i at Manoa
  • Jazmine Abarratigue – Seattle University
  • Andy Chen – San Diego State University
  • Chenelle Mae Andres – University of Portland

These scholarships will help cover tuition, school books, and other educational expenses. We extend our thanks to American Income Life Insurance for their generous $2,500 donation, which greatly supports our scholarship program.
