What Is COPE?
The Hawaii State AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education, or COPE, is the Federation’s political education and member engagement program. COPE helps affiliated unions and their members participate in the political process, evaluate candidates, consider endorsements, and support policies and candidates that advance the interests of working people.
COPE Meeting
The Hawaii State AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education met on July 13 to determine its endorsements for the 2026 Primary Election. The full list of endorsements is available at hawaflcio.org/endorsements.
COPE will meet again to consider any remaining candidate endorsements prior to the 2026 General Election.

Registration is required for all attendees. Please complete the Zoom registration form even if you plan to attend in person.

Participation in division meetings is limited to eligible representatives of affiliated local unions within each respective division.
Participation in the COPE meeting is limited to members of the Hawaii State AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education. Under the Hawaii State AFL-CIO Constitution, COPE is composed of:
- The officers and Executive Board members of the Hawaii State AFL-CIO
- The COPE Director
- One additional representative from each affiliated local union
AFL-CIO constituency groups and their delegates are not eligible to participate in COPE meetings concerning candidate endorsements or other partisan activity related to public elected office.
