Randy Perreira New State AFL-CIO President
Delegates of the the 21st Biennial Convention of the Hawaii State AFL-CIO meeting at the Hilton Hawaiian Vollage Coral Ballroom on Thursday, November 3 voted unanimously to elect Randolph P. Perreira President. A Deputy Director of HGEA-AFSCME, Local 152, he has previously served several terms as a Hawaii AFL-CIO Vice-President.
After being sworn in by Terry Lau, State COPE Dorector, President Perreira expressed, in heart-felt language, his thanks to all the delegates and the local unions they represent for their confidence in him and the great honor they have bestowed. He pledged to do his best to make the voice of the State Labor Federation stronger and ever more effective throughout the next two years of his term.
Expressing his thanks to Harold Dias, Jr. who was President from 2001-2005, Perreira pledged to continue Dias' programs and initiatives. He Praised Dias for all the work he did to strengthen the Labor Federation and thanked him for agreeing to continue on as a Vice President during the next two years.
